ABOUT MICHALINA DOSZCZAK

BIOGRAPHY

Michalina Doszczak (born in Gdansk, based in Arnhem): In any themes that I approach I keep chasing temporary obsessions.

The work strives to capture and expose the raw and visceral emotions that we want to push away by the use of repetition as a magnifying glass. anxiety, depression, despair, decay, discomfort and loneliness. Every next frame peels back another layer of sorrow and grief. The pieces serve as a visual diary, capturing what cannot be seen with the naked eye but reverberates through our souls. One is meant to feel it on their skin, in their mouth and throat, in the depths of their bones, down to the darkest shadow of their soul. Repetition is a means to intensify the emotion behind the work as well as shed a light on the cyclical nature in which the emotion manifests and festers within you.
